Maria Grachvogel Comes to Singapore
Maria Grachvogel, who has a small celebrity following which includes Emma Thompson, Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie, and Victoria Beckham, has opened her first boutique in Paragon. Dubbed as one of Britain’s top womenswear designers and having previously held several trunk shows in Singapore, she decided to launch her eponymous label this year to bring her collection to local connoisseurs of high fashion.
Maria was in Singapore to launch the label with a bang, showcasing her Autumn/Winter 2011 collection with a runway show directed by the esteemed Daniel Boey.
Inspired by tribal stories and the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, the collection featured ethereal and abstract prints referencing both the natural and fantastical in neutral shades of Ebony, Bone, Grey and Blush. The pieces are meticulously engineered with luxurious silk, georgette, lace and cashmere tweed to execute a complex cut, form and fit.
We loved the signature magic pants, which are well-cut and features flowing drapes to achieve the guise of a long skirt, without the unnecessary weight. The piece is a wonderful illustration of Maria’s design philosophy to flatter the female form with an architectural approach to design.
